    1. I think we could be. Depends on if you also think that you should look like Jennifer Lopez.

    1. It used to be, yet here I sit with no curly perm, pull-on pants or round lady-glasses. But I still look much older that I did ten short years ago. Sigh.

  3. 40 is the new 30!

Also, Madonna makes 50 look young. :)

  4. I turn 40 this year too and you nailed my vision of what it has looked like to me throughout the years. I'm hoping my visions keep changing for 50 too!

    1. Me too! The image of me when I was 30 and my mom when she was 50? That was a distinct moment when as I got older, she looked younger to me.

    1. I see my friends who are 45, 50 - and I hope I look as good as they do. Sadly, I'm afraid that isn't in the cards for me.

  6. So funny! I'm 42 and I love it. But I totally agree - I thought 40 was ancient when I went to my dad's 40th birthday party!

    1. I have yet to love being in my forties. I am still in shock.

When my uncle turned 40, he received a card that said "40 isn't old if you're a tree." At the time I thought that was hilarious.

      Now, not so much.

I'm 41 and I would not want to be a day younger. But those pictures? You nailed it!

    1. I know exactly what you mean about not wanting to be a day younger. But appearing to be ten years younger? Absolutely.

    1. Thanks for the compliment about my hair when I was eight. Maybe I will attempt to bring back that look.

And thanks too for the other compliment! I'm blushing a little. :)

      You will rock 40!

  12. 40 was SO two years ago (for me, anyway). But you know what? When we were young, 40 really WAS like that! Now, 40 is when we catch our stride. We have the confidence we need to feel good about ourselves. And then our body betrays us.

I want to live in J. Lo's world where someone is photoshopping me every moment of the day. No, really. I do.

    1. I do, too. I think that instant photoshop should be a valid birthday gift after 40. Maybe even a mandatory one.
